Wright Brothers for launching their first aviation flight. They

Kitty Hawk remained a quiet fishing village mostly developed on
the Albemarle Sound side of the Outer Banks with the a few beach
cottages on the ocean. Wright Memorial Bridge and easy access
opened miles of pristine Kitty Hawk beaches.
